The format of the tournament is expected to remain the same, what with the eight teams facing off in a home and away competition. Each team will play 14 games in the IPL this time as has been the case last year and at the end of this league phase of the tournament, the top four will qualify for the playoffs. Four playoffs matches, including the final, will be played to decide the winner.
