Hey Everyone, I am Chetan Jariwala (Career Counselor) Massive open online course (MOOC) has clearly taken over the world of online education.  As a distance learning advocate, it's quite exciting to see cutting edge technologies driving the virtual platforms for reputed academic centers.  Coursera is definitely leading the way in terms of offering innovating courses for students across the globe. 

The emergence of MOOC will motivate not only students but also adults/professionals who were not able to pursue further studies or complete graduation.  This is a golden opportunity for everyone to go back to school.  Most of the courses are free; they can be accessed by anyone with an Internet connection.  Could it be the end of a traditional classroom setting (brick & mortar) as we know it?  Definitely not, I think there will always be a campus for students to mingle.  More likely, traditional education will be completely integrated with technology in order to get more out of it.

Back in the days, higher education was just a pipe dream that never shaped into reality.  Not anymore, as professors from elite universities have offered to provide their expertise directly through the MOOC system. Anyone can get a certificate for completing the courses offered; they will attain new skills and knowledge without any financial burden.  In other words, you don't need to attend an Ivy League school for higher education.

The quality of education received through these free courses is equivalent in comparison to a private college or an expensive university.  It’s a fascinating time for educators and students alike, let’s hope that it keeps evolving with better things to come in the future!
