As a New York State Certificated Childhood Educator (grades 1-6), Alexandra Karlson most recently served as a teacher at the Hunter College Elementary School in New York City. She was responsible for generating literacy curriculum for an advanced learning program and directing engaging lessons for first-grade gifted and talented students. Earlier in her career, Alexandra Karlson worked as an adjunct professor for the School of Education at Hunter College. In this role, she successfully prepared the syllabus and lesson plans for Teaching Development Reading, reviewed students’ work, and collaborated with colleagues in the higher education system.

Karlson also has extensive experience as a tutor for elementary school children and has worked with numerous tutoring programs, including the Princeton Review. In her role as a first-grade tutor, she helped students with reading fluency and comprehension by utilizing tools such as graphic organizers. She also served as a tutor for first-grade students at PS 163M, where she conducted educational programs for students with learning differences. Alexandra Karlson employed a systematic approach based on the Ennis Cosby Graduate Program to teach phonics and phonemic awareness.
